The Eden Society recognizes donors who have included Yavneh Day School in their financial or estate plans via Will Bequests, Trusts or other arrangements.

What are Planned Gifts?
A planned gift is any gift given for any amount or for any purpose which requires the assistance of a professional staff person, a qualified volunteer, or the donor's advisors to complete. It includes any gift which is carefully considered by a donor as part of his/her estate and financial plans. It may be directed to operations, capital expansion, or endowment, for current or deferred use.

Planned gifts that provide income are an excellent way to give, and their flexibility makes them popular. The donor transfers to Yavneh Day School assets such as cash, securities, or other appreciated property. Yavneh then invests the assets and pays the donor or donor’s designee an income for life or for a specific term.

Planned gifts enhance the donor’s estate by helping to increase cash flow, reduce taxes, and avoid the cost of probate. What's more, capital gain taxes can be avoided when appreciated property is used to fund this type of gift.

Planned gifts offer numerous tax-wise options. For instance, the donor can give real estate such as a residence or second home, while retaining the use of it for the rest of his/her life.

Planned giving provides for numerous options that reflect the donor’s personal needs and financial wishes. We welcome the opportunity to discuss these opportunities with you.

How to Make a Bequest
A donor may contribute either a specific sum or asset or a percentage of his/her residuary estate as a bequest in a will. Bequests offer the flexibility of designating a specific purpose or endowment for one’s gift as well as estate tax advantages. Charitable bequests are fully deductible for estate tax purposes.

A simple statement such as this may be included in a will:

"I give to Yavneh Day School in Cincinnati OH ...

  • (Cash Bequest) the sum of ________ dollars ($_______)
  • (Stock Bequest) _______ shares of common stock of _______________________________ Corporation
  • (Percentage of Estate) ______ percent ( _____%) of the residue of my estate.

I request this bequest be used by Yavneh Day School for the following purpose: _________________________________. I direct that no federal estate tax or state death taxes be allocated to or paid from such bequest."

Yavneh is a cooperative partner of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati. We work closely with the planned giving professionals of the Jewish Federation, to facilitate the wishes of those donors who choose to direct their funds to Yavneh through the Federation.

We encourage those interested in obtaining information about maing a gift to Yavneh to contact Yavneh's Head of School at 513.984.3770 or The Jewish Federation of Cincinnati 513.985.1500.
