Yavneh students, their
parents and teachers are the inheritors and guardians of a priceless
legacy. The very name of our school honors the place in Israel where
in 66 C.E. Jewish learning and tradition were preserved for succeeding
generations. Here, today, is a place where education is a privilege,
academic excellence a priority and the bonds of family, school and
community meld into one encompassing, living tradition.
Yavneh is a nurturing place for a Jewish child
to go to school. Because of our small size and low student-teacher
ratio, our students receive the individual attention they need to
enable them to grow and learn at their own pace. Their transition
from home to school is eased by the familiarity of a warm environment
that fosters their Jewish identity, builds their self-esteem and
prepares them for unequivocal and responsible citizenship in a secular
society.
The sum of Yavneh’s dual
curriculum is far greater than its parts. The school’s
academically rigorous college preparatory program is enriched by
Hebrew language and Judaic studies, and as a result, Yavneh students
are bilingual and able to conceptualize and make connections between
disciplines with a natural facility. In this enriched learning community,
our students develop the intellectual skills necessary for success
in high school, university and beyond. Additional languages are
introduced in the 7th grade.
